Hello, neighbor! You've just logged onto the official home page of the Cantaloupe Chronicle — your trusted source for all things melon and more in our charming little town. Founded in 1985 at the request of Mayor Striesel, we've been reporting the juiciest stories, local events, and cantaloupe crop updates ever since. Whether you're looking for last week's bake sale results, the latest town council gossip, or a heartfelt letter to the editor, you’ll find it right here.

Check back every Tuesday and Friday for fresh updates. Thank you for stopping by. Stay sweet, – The Cantaloupe Chronicle Team

Current Updates

  • The “Cantaloupe of the Month” Photo Contest is Back Open to all residents, guests, pets, and sentient scarecrows. This year’s theme: “Unexpected Melon.” Interpret it however you wish — past entries have included a melon carved like a chessboard, a cantaloupe perched on a skateboard ramp, and one memorable shot of a melon mysteriously floating in the reservoir. The winning photo will be featured in the Chronicle’s sidebar for the entire month (and printed on a commemorative fridge magnet, if supplies last).
  • Found: One Left Boot (Size Unknown) Recovered near the gas station. Black leather, slightly muddy, and oddly warm. Currently in the care of Amanda at the gas station, who says she won’t give it back unless you can describe what was in it. Claims it "felt like pocket change but heavier." If unclaimed by next month, it will join the other objects in our semi-permanent “Unsolved Belongings” box.
  • Got Something to Share? We'd Love to Hear It! Have a new chicken coop you're proud of? Finally cracked Grandma's upside-down pickle pie recipe? Maybe your dog barked at something only you could see — or your cat just stares at the same spot on the wall every Thursday. Whatever it is, we want to know! The Chronicle isn't just our paper — it's yours, too. We're always on the lookout for submissions from fellow melonheads: little stories, odd findings, family updates, mysterious stains in ceiling tiles, hand-drawn maps, heartfelt letters, or small-town triumphs. No story is too small. No observation too weird. (Okay, maybe a little weird is fine.) Send your updates by email, fax, or slip a handwritten note under Jill's office door.
